April 28th, 2009

Today, Microsoft released Service Pack 2 for Microsoft Office 2007 which boosts performance to programs such as Outlook by as much as 35 percent and adds support for a broader range of file formats including Portable Document Format (PDF) files.

Service Pack 2 for Microsoft Office 2007 can be downloaded here. Microsoft is calling the update a "major performance enhancement" to the business software suite. (SP2) boosts stability and performance with Outlook paying particular attention to calendaring.

The most anticipated new feature is the ability to create Adobe PDF files from Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher without requiring additional 3rd party software.

NOTE: Office 2003 and Office XP are no longer supported as of April 14th, 2009.  Microsoft is encouraging users of older versions of Office to upgrade now that bug fixes and security patches will no longer be available.
